Charles Carroll representing Maryland. why did he sign the Declaration “Charles Carroll of Carrolton”?

Charles Carroll trivia:

He was the last signer to pass. He died in 1832 at the age of 95.

He was the only founder to see a railroad train. He laid the corner stone of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad in 1828 (The B&O. Whip out that trivia fact next time you’re playing Monopoly).

He’s featured in the song “Maryland, My Maryland” which is sung every year at the Preakness Stakes.
