mike,
In my profession i travel all over jackson. I see tons of American Flags. It lets me know that there are plenty of people who are proud of our country and our great flag. Along the way i also see many flags that are faded, ripped, and just worn out. This does let me know that those flags have been flying for a long time, which is a good thing, but if you could make a mention about how replacing that worn out flag with a brand new crisp “Stars and Bars” is such a great thing i would appreciate the voice. I plan on getting my family and friends American Flags for Christmas (ones that are actually -made in the USA-).
Spread the word Slater.
America is the greatest country in the World.
thanks,
B.

teach your kids about American history! this is so easy to do and you can do it all on your own. they’re never to young to understand that the American Flag is special. my son is five and my daughter is two and they both point out American Flags everywhere we go. we count flags on every trip we make. during the olympics i experienced one of the most special feelings ever. whenever the USA was set to compete i would chant USA! USA! USA! to get fired up about our country and how we were going to smoke the competition. my son picked up on it instantly and joined in. he knows our flag means something. this made me so proud and i always try to find a reason to get a chant going. i will continue to highlight symbols of our freedom and as they age i will teach them the truth about our founding fathers and this great country they fought and died for. my latest idea was telling them who those guys on our dollar bills are. simple things like that i’m positive will make a difference in their lives. i’m also educating myself by reading books such as Bill Bennett’s “America: The Last Best Hope.” our schools do not stress American History nearly enough. in fact they don’t even scratch the surface on the greatness and the lessons that can be learned from where we came from. it needs to be the centerpiece of every child’s education because it truly is the only reason we are where we’re at today. the fact that we are failing our children in this way,i believe, is one of the root causes of many of the problems we face today. please consider my humble thoughts and maybe you too will feel the bond this country provides us between family, friends, and anyone that has a love of country like i do.
