First, here’s Corker on the show back on May 14th AGAINST the Gas Tax Holiday. not sure if McCain was listening to the show that morning or not, but word spread…
Now back to Monday’s show: The comment that immediately made the phones POP!
I’m against Corker’s first amendment to Lieberman-Warner because, as I understand it, his amendment would take money from private companies and give it ‘back to The American people’. First, you’re still stealing from the private company, weather you’re giving the money to the government or to ‘The American people’ it doesn’t matter, the ends DON’T justify the means. Second, what does “The American People” even mean? Are the private business owners not American People? And how can you give money “back” to the American People? “The American People” is not a single entity. That sounds like a euphemism for “The Greater Good” and it shows to me a fundamental misunderstanding of how wealth is created in America. Wealth is not created by the consumer. Wealth is created by the producer. If we keep stealing from the producers, pretty soon there won’t be any more money to steal.
